Shaoguan City in Guangdong Province is known as Shaozhou Prefecture in ancient China.The culture of tea produced there has a long history and is famous for thousands of years.Dating back to the prosperous times of Tang and Song Dynasties,Shaozhou tea was an essential delicacy for daily banquets and guests,as well as for relieving heat and thirst.During the Ming and Qing Dynasties,the rise of commercial trade at the border allowed the tea industry in Shaozhou to further develop.Tea categories especially Lechang Baimao tea,Renhua Baimao tea,Qujiang Caoxi tea are the most famous.Based on the collected literature,this paper made a longitudinal analysis of the origin and flow of tea in Shaozhou,and discussed the development of tea industry in Shaozhou Prefecture and its subordinate counties in history by combining the tea culture such as Buddhist Zen tea,wood-fired tea sets,tea picking opera and so on.It is expected to supplement the research on Shaozhou tea in the field of history and culture,and help to further explore the path of tea inheritance in northern Guangdong.
