Ducetia japonica feeds primarily on tea shoots,causing the affected shoots to droopor drop and eventually forming scorched shoots.In the absence of shoots,they feed on leaves and create long or irregular holes.The peak period for adult insects is fromo August to September.Tea garden with severe damage have a number of dead shoots ranging from 6 to 31 per meter of tea rows.
