Breeding Report of the High Flavor Green Tea Cultivar'Xiangcha No.1'
'Xiangcha No.1'was selected from the open pollinated offspring of'Fuding Dabaicha'by systematic breeding method,which was suitable for processing Xiangyang high-flavor tea.The results of systematic compari-son test and processing test show that'Xiangcha No.1'sprouts very early,with medium to high yield.The appear-ance of dried green tea is tight and smooth,slightly pekoe,with bright yellow and green soup color,tender chestnut aroma with floral fragrance,fresh and refreshing taste,and bright yellow green leaves at the bottom.The produced black tea is curly,black and slightly oily in shape,with bright red soup color,sweet and long aroma,mellow and fresh taste,and a uniform red base on the leaves.The water extract,tea polyphenol,amino acid and caffeine con-tents of one bud and two leaves were 50.20%,20.40%,4.25%and 3.45%respectively.It shows high cold and an-thracnose tolerance,mid drought and little green leafhopper tolerance.'Xiangcha No.1'was registered as a non-ma-jor crop cultivar in April 2024,with the GPD tea registration number of(2024)420037.
