Correlation Analysis between Body Weight and Body Size Indexes of Adult Female River Buffalo
The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between body weight and body size indexes of river type adult female buffalo.A total of 467 healthy adult female buffaloes were selected to measure body weight(Y),body height(X1),cruciform height(X2),body oblique length(X3),chest circumference(X4),abdominal circumference(X5),cannon circumference(X6),rump width(X7),rump length(X8),chest width(X9)and chest depth(X10).Correlation analysis and principal component analysis were performed on body weight and body size related indexes. The results showed that the variation coefficients of live weight, rump width, rump length, chest circumference, chest depth, cannon circumference, and abdominal circumference of adult female buffalo were larger(all greater than 8%).Stepwise regression analysis was performed with body weight as the dependent variable and other related body size indicators as independent variables. The equation was:Y=-634.885-2.590X1+5.372X2+2.938X3+2.310X5+3.456X7(R=0.734,R2=0.538,P<0.001).Each body size index affected the adult body weight of female buffalo to different degrees. There was a significant positive correlation between body weight and body height, body length, cross height, chest circumference, abdominal circumference, tube circumference, rump width, rump length, chest width, and chest depth(P<0.01).The largest correlation coefficient was abdominal circumference and body weight,up to 0.652.From the perspective of the characteristic roots and cumulative contribution rate of the principal component, based on the first principal component relationship,it can be seen that the feature vectors of abdominal circumference, chest depth, body weight, body length, body height, and rump length are larger, which can reflect the body structure of adult cows,so abdominal circumference factor can be called the first principal component.Based on the relationship of the second principal component,it can be seen that the feature vectors of cross height, body height, body oblique length, and rump width are larger,so the cross height can be called the second principal component. It can be seen that by measuring the body height, cross height, body length, abdominal circumference, cannon circumference, and rump width of adult female buffalo, the body weight of adult female buffalo was estimated by the weight regression model.
