Measurement and Correlation Analysis of Body Size and Slaughter Traits of Pu'an Panjiang Black Chicken
This study selected 200 chicks of Pu'an panjiang black chicken(male and female in half)hatched from the same batch. At the age of 150 days,60 birds(male and female in half)are randomly selected for measurement and analysis of the body size and slaughter performance. The results showed that the live weight, dressed rate, and eviscerated rate for cocks were 1903.75 g,86.32%,and 75.07%,while the traits for hens were 1556.04 g,88.55%,and 71.31%,respectively.The body size, live weight, dressed weight,half-eviscerated weight, eviscerated weight, eviscerated rate, leg muscle weight and leg muscle rate of cocks were very significantly greater than those of hens(P<0.01).The abdominal fat weight, slaughter rate and abdominal fat rate of hens were very significantly greater than those of cocks(P<0.01),the breast muscle rate was significantly greater than cocks(P<0.05).In addition, the body slope length, chest depth and shank length of cocks were extremely significantly and positively correlated with the live weight, dressed weight,half-eviscerated weight, eviscerated weight, leg muscle weight, breast muscle weight,half-eviscerated rate and eviscerated rate respectively(P<0.01).The body slope length, chest width, chest depth of hens were extremely significantly and positively correlated with the live weight,half-eviscerated weight, eviscerated weight, leg muscle weight respectively(P<0.01).It can be seen that there are gender differences in body size and slaughter performance of Pu'an panjiang black chickens, and body slope length, chest depth and chest width can be used as indirect indicators of slaughter performance breeding.
