Research Status of Conservation and Development of Genetic Resources of Wuzong Goose
Wuzong goose is one of the indigenous goose breeds in Guangdong province,China,with good meat quality,adaptability and other characteristics,which is a precious genetic resource and excellent breeding materials in China,the protection,develop-ment and utilization of the genetic resources of Wuzong goose are of great significance.This article analyzes the necessity of pro-tecting the genetic resources of Wuzong goose based on its relevant characteristics(place of origin,variety characteristics,and pro-duction performance),elaborates on its current status of genetic resource protection and utilization,points out the lack of social attention and government investment in germplasm protection and innovation,poor conservation effect,low breeding management level,and insufficient exploration and utilization of germplasm resources in Wuzong goose conservation and development,and proposes suggestions to increase social attention,scientifically coordinate conservation planning measures,innovate breeding management models,and strengthen variety selection and utilization,in order to promote the protection and development of genetic resources of Wuzong goose.
