Research Progress on the Role of 25-hydroxycholecalciferol in Male Animal Reproduction
25-hydroxycholecalciferol is the metabolite of vitamin D3 after hydroxylation of liver bile, known as active vitamin D3.Vitamin D can not only regulate the absorption and metabolism of calcium and phosphorus in the body and maintain the dynamic balance of bones but also regulate animal reproduction. As the main metabolite of vitamin D in the body, the role of 25(OH)D3in male animal reproduction has attracted more and more attention. This article mainly reviews the relationship between 25(OH)D3 and vitamin D,its effects through related metabolic enzymes and vitamin D receptors, regulation of androgen synthesis and secretion, and improvement of semen quality. The aim is to to reveal the mechanism of 25-hydroxycholocalciferol improving the reproductive ability of male animals, and to provide a basis for promoting its application in animal husbandry production.
