Correlation and Regression Analysis on Body Size and Slaughter Performance in White Pheasant
In this study,30 males and 30 females of 126-day-old white feather pheasants were selected to carry out body size and slaughter performance determination.The results showed that the white feather pheasants had good meat production performance.The average slaughter rate of male and female pheasants was 90.10%and 89.14%,respectively,and the average eviscerated rate was 71.46%and 69.85%,respectively.The body length,keel length,tibia circumference,tibia length,pelvis width,and chest depth of male pheasants were significantly higher than those of female pheasants(P<0.01),and the chest width of male pheasants was considerably higher than that of female pheasants(P<0.05).The pre-slaughter weight,slaughter weight,semi-eviscerated weight,semi-eviscerated rate,eviscerated weight,breast muscle weight,and leg muscle weight of male pheasants were significantly higher than those of female pheasants(P<0.01),and the eviscerated rate of male pheasants was considerably higher than that of fe-male pheasants(P<0.05).There was a significant positive correlation between body length and pelvic width,pre-slaughter weight,slaughter weight,semi-eviscerated weight,and end leg muscle weight(P<0.01).The body length of female pheasants was signifi-cantly positively correlated with keel length,chest depth,pre-slaughter weight,slaughter weight,semi-eviscerated weight,eviscerat-ed weight,and leg muscle weight(P<0.01).There were different degrees of positive correlation between body size and slaughter performance.The regression equation between body weight,slaughter performance,and body size index of white feather pheasants,and the determination coefficient R2 reached more than 0.5,indicating that body size traits such as body length can effectively pre-dict body weight and slaughter performance.It can be seen that the slaughter performance can be effectively evaluated by measur-ing body size indexes such as body length,shank circumference,shank length,and chest width of white feather pheasants.
