Investigation Report on the Resources Xin'anjiang Buffalo
In recent years,research had been conducted on local cattle resources in Anhui Province,we found a unique buffalo popu-lation in Huangshan area,which is of medium size and can be used for both meat and service. It is temporarily called Xin'anjiang buffalo. A long history of raising buffalo exists in the Mount Huangshan area,but the population has declined seriously between 2000 and 2022. The population size is only about 4000 at present. Through field research and measurement,this paper discusses the physical traits,distribution,breeding and utilization,breed formation and evolution,growth and production performance,as well as the development and utilization of the Xin'an River Buffalo. It has found that this population has distinctiveness in terms of physical characteristics and historical origins. The next step is to initiate new resource exploration for this population.
