Comparative Analysis of Growth Traits,Meat Production Performance and Muscle Quality of Hybrid Combinations of Different Mutton Sheep Breeds in Hexi Desertification Area
In order to study the crossbreeding effect between different meat sheep breeds and Hu sheep in the desertification area of Hexi, this experiment used Australian white sheep,Duper sheep and Poll Dowset sheep as the male parents, and Hu sheep as the fe-male parent.According to the principle of similar body weight,20 healthy lambs were selected from each group and divided into AoHu Group(AH),DuHu Group(DH)and TaoHu Group(TH),with the Hu sheep pure breeding group(HH)as the control group. The growth performance, slaughter performance and meat quality of lambs were compared to select a suitable hybrid model for commercial meat sheep production in the arid desert area of Hexi. The results showed that:in terms of growth performance, body weight and average daily gain of the DH and AH F1 lambs at 6 months of age was significantly greater than that of the HH group(P<0.05);In terms of slaughter performance, the carcass weight,GR value, and eye muscle area of the DH and AH groups were significantly greater than those of the HH group(P-<0.05),while tail fat weight was lower than that of HH group(P>0.05).In terms of meat quality, the shear force value of AH group was significantly lower than that of HH group(P<0.05),and the moisture content of AH group was significantly higher than that of HH group(P<0.05).Therefore,the AH and DH F1 lambs have fast growth, high slaughter performance and relatively good meat quality, and can be promoted and applied as hybrid models for commercial meat sheep production in the desertification area of Hexi.
