Evaluations of basic data on the river and lake eco-environment in the Yellow River basin and reflections
Collecting and organizing basic data on the eco-environment related to river and lake management is a prerequisite for achieving high-level ecological protection in the Yellow River basin. For a long time, multiple departments have been involved in the management and protection of rivers and lakes in the basin, yet mechanisms for data sharing among these departments remain underdeveloped.Additionally, systems for water environment governance and water ecological protection have yet to take shape, and existing scientific research data on rivers and lakes are fragmented and disorganized.Based on the tasks and data requirements of the river and lake chief system concerning the ecological environment, this study collects and organizes relevant literature and data through document review, correspondence, and field investigations. It systematically analyzes basic data on water environment governance and water ecological protection, identifies existing issues, and provides insights. In response to the water management goals in the new era, this study proposes filling gaps in water ecological data, establishing a scientific and long-term management system for the water eco-environment,and constructing a foundational database to support river and lake ecological management, thereby advancing ecological protection in the Yellow River basin.
