Can Land Fragmentation Inhibit Farmers'Green Production Behavior?Realistic Background,Theoretical Logic and Empirical Tests
The purposes of this study are to start from the realistic situation of land fragmentation based on the survey data of"Hundreds of Villages and Thousands of Households"in Jiangxi Province in 2021,to analyze the impact of land fragmentation on farmers'green production behavior, and to explore the mechanism role of livelihood strategies and the moderating effect of factor endowment. The research methods are OLS,threshold effect model, mediation effect model and moderating effect model. The research results show that:1)land fragmentation generally inhibits the adoption of farmers'green production behavior, but there are differences in the effect of different degrees of land fragmentation on farmers'green production behavior, which is manifested in the threshold effect of the degree of land fragmentation, and basically shows an inverted U shape relationship with the green production behavior of farmers. As the degree of land fragmentation increases, farmers'green production behavior first increases and then decreases.2)Land fragmentation affects on farmers'green production behavior by influencing their livelihood strategy choices.3)Factor endowment positively moderates the impact of land fragmentation on farmers'green production behavior.4)There are inter-generational differences in the impact of land fragmentation on different green production behaviors of farmers. In conclusion, land fragmentation is not simply a way to inhibit farmers'green production behavior, while promoting the management of land fragmentation in an orderly manner. The relevant resources should be integrated and optimally allocated to reduce the endowment constraints on the adoption of green production behavior by farmers,to help the realization of sustainable agricultural development.
