The Impact of Industrial Transformation and Upgrading Demonstration Zones on Urban Land Green Utilization Efficiency
The purpose of this study is to systematically examine the impact of industrial transformation and upgrading demonstration zones on urban land green utilization efficiency based on panel data from 155 old industrial cities and resource-based cities in China from 2006 to 2021. The research methods are super efficient SBM model and asymptotic double difference model. The research results show that:1) the establishment of demonstration zones can significantly improve urban land green utilization efficiency, which still holds true after multiple rounds of robustness testing. Meanwhile, this impact has a significant promotional effect. 2) The mechanism testing shows that the construction of demonstration zones can improve urban land green utilization efficiency through three paths,i.e.,industrial agglomeration, environmental regulation and technological innovation. 3) Heterogeneity analysis suggests that the improvement effect of urban land green utilization efficiency in demonstration zone construction is more significant in old industrial cities and cluster demonstration zones, relatively weak in resource-based cities and single demonstration zones, and not evident in composite cities. In conclusion,it is necessary to promote the construction of demonstration zones, strengthen policy support, actively guide economic agglomeration, strengthen environmental regulations and support technological innovation, refine policy arrangements according to local conditions and to explore diversified industrial transformation paths, which can jointly promote urban land green utilization efficiency.
