Characteristics and Treatment of Slow Traffic Defects of High Speed Railway in Challenging Mountain Areas
Targeting various slow traffic defects often found in earthworks, bridges, and tunnels during the construction and operation of HSRs in challenging mountain areas in southwestern China, this paper looks at the hazard modes and the deformation and failure characteristics of different slow traffic defects, based on the monitoring and supplementary survey data collected during the operation of three HSRs in challenging mountain areas:Yunnan-Guangxi Railway(Nanning-Kunming HSR),Shanghai-Kunming HSR,and Xi'an-Chengdu HSR.Additionally, the causes of HSR slow traffic defects are examined in this paper, and treatment solutions were proposed. The research findings indicate that several factors, including formation lithology, topography, landform, tectonic stress environment, climate and rainfall, and rock structure conditions, lead to the occurrence of various slow traffic defects such as earthworks base upwarp, displacement of bridges on slopes, tunnel base upwarp, and tunnel concrete corrosion.Different treatment solutions are proposed to address specific slow traffic defects. The research results provide a reference for the operation and maintenance of HSRs in challenging mountain areas.
