Research on Numerical Simulation of One-side Cold Air Curtain Effect in Semi-enclosed Space
The paper proposes the insulation approach of cold air curtain where external air is used as the air source. The goal is to prevent the influx of cold air into the tunnel and to minimize the frost heaving induced in cold areas. Therefore, the paper carries out the numerical simulation of the heat exchange between both sides of the cold air curtain set at one side of the semi-enclosed space. The simulation model is established in reference to the relevant laboratory tests, the data of which then verifies the model in return. The model helps study the influence of air curtain jet angle, jet velocity and jet width on the blocking effect of cold air flowing into semi-enclosed space under thermal pressure. The results show that when the jet angle is 3°,the shape of the air curtain is favorable, and the average temperature in the semi-enclosed space is 4-5℃ higher than that without air curtain. At this point, the increase of the speed or width of the curtain will strengthen the heat exchange, and weaken the cold insulation effect. When the jet angle is 6° or 9°,the width of the curtain needs to match the corresponding speed, otherwise it is prone to cause unsatisfactory shape of the curtain, resulting in cold insulation failure.
