Experimental Research on New Track Structures for High Speed Railways
China lacks operational experience in ballasted tracks for high speed railways with speeds of 300 km/h and above. The applicability, stability, and reliability of new track structures such as polyurethane elastic ballast beds, elastic sleepers, and ballast mats need to be further tested and demonstrated. The experimental research on new track structures for high speed railways was carried out on a comprehensive test section of some high speed line with design speed of 250km/h.On this section, prefabricated polyurethane elastic ballast beds, elastic sleepers, and ballast mats are installed, and a real train test with speed up to 300 km/h was conducted. This paper expounds the design scheme and the test results, including 4 items:system test of new track structure, vibration noise test, infrastructure test under ballasted track and adaptability test of integrated grounding system. The test results indicate that the new track structures of prefabricated polyurethane elastic ballast beds, elastic sleepers and ballast mats are safe and reliable. These findings provide a technical solution to speed attainment on ballasted section of high speed railway with design speed of 300km/h or above, and type selection of tracks crossing active fault zones.
