Prediction of Medium and Long Wave Irregularity Control Effects in Fine Tamping Operations of Ballasted Track
Fine tamping operations are a crucial measure for rectifying medium and long wave irregularities in ballasted track.Studying the improvement effects of medium and long wave irregularity after fine tamping is significant for guiding the formulation of fine tamping plans and enhancing operation quality. This paper combines a case study of fine tamping maintenance on a ballasted track of a certain conventional railway in China to outline the methods of fine tamping operations. It analyzes the development trend of evaluation indicators for medium and long wave irregularity at different stages of the tamping operation.A MEA-BP neural network model is constructed to predict the longitudinal level and measurements of alignment at the midpoint of the 60m chord after fine tamping. The model takes into full consideration the impacts of initial track irregularity, track lifting and lining amount, section type, and operation stage on medium and long wave irregularity control effects. The research results indicate that different stages of fine tamping operations and different line sections have varying effects on the development trends of longitudinal level irregularity as well as alignment irregularity. The use of a neural network prediction model can effectively forecast medium and long wave irregularity after fine tamping operations.
