Strategies for Telling China's Stories Well in College English Textbooks:With New Era Mingde College English as an Example
As an important part of English curriculum,English textbooks play an important role in telling China's stories well.Taking the New Era Mingde College English as an example,this paper discusses three questions related to China's stories telling in the textbook series:What China's stories are told?How are the stories told?Who are the story-tellers?The results show that all the five categories of China's stories are included in the textbooks and explicit and implicit ways are combined to represent the stories.Meanwhile,multiple story-tellers are employed to narrate the stories from different perspectives,and much importance has been attached to students'involvement.This study is significant for the development and evaluation of college English textbooks.
