A Corpus-Assisted Discourse Study of the Construction of Chinese Rural Image in International News Discourse
Under the strategic background from"comprehensive poverty alleviation"to"rural revitalization",how to outline the real picture of Chinese rural area by mainstream media in the new era is an urgent issue to be discussed.This paper selects relevant reports from China Daily on rural revitalization to build a corpus.From the perspective of news discourse analysis,combined with the theory of harmonious discourse analysis,this paper explores the construction methods and discourse strategies of Chinese rural image in the new era of international news.The research finds that China Daily adopts the constructive theme reporting framework,follows the basic principle of harmonious discourse analysis,constructs a harmonious,green and people-oriented rural image in the new era,and comprehensively displays the reform process and diversified values of rural areas.
