The Chinese scholars Wang Mingyu and Meng Hua have rethought the shortcomings of two semiotic theories in the West, and proposed the third:the Integration of Language and Image, which is a contribution of Chinese wisdom to the global research of liberal arts. The present paper thinks that the"image"in this theory can be interpreted by"embodiment(perception)"and the"language"by"cognition(rationality)".Therefore, this theory is in line with the basic idea of our"Embodied-Cognitive Philosophy"and"Embodied-Cognitive Linguistics".The former has mainly absorbed Marxist-Leninist Dialectical Materialism, humanism(men have subjective initiative)and many new ideas of postmodernism, thus criticizing the shortcomings of Embodied Philosophy and Cognitive Linguistics by Lakoff & Johnson.Following these ideas,we have attempted to construct Embodied-Cognitive Linguistics, with emphasis on the two basic characteristics"ti(embodiment)"and"ren(cognition)"for human thought, civilization and language. We think that this theory is also suitable for semiotic research. On this basis, the paper has followed"Embodied-Cognitive Semiotics"proposed by Wang Mingyu et al.,and stressed the new semiotic views:monism,embodied-cognitive view and iconicity.
