Transitivity Analysis of Public Signs for Environmental Protection:From the Perspective of Ecological Discourse Analysis
Public signs are an important part of the language landscape.Their discourse content reflects the urban language ecology and is an important symbol of the urban image.Guided by the concept of ecological civilization,this paper analyzes the rhetorical features,transitivity processes,and ecological value orientations of public signs for environmental protection.The public signs for environmental protection which emphasize the harmonious unity between humans and nature,fall into beneficial discourse.The public signs,through various transitivity processes,such as material,relational,mental,and existential processes,call on people to protect the ecological environment and build ecological civilization.When constructing public signs for environmental protection,we should take the concept of ecological civilization as the guide to promote the use of positive expression,so as to optimize the language and social service functions of public signs,improve the linguistic environment.Rhetorical expressions such as parallelism,antithesis,personification,and mimesis can be used to enhance the discourse effectiveness,public impact,and the city's image.
