The Historical Process and Basic Experience of Developing Tibetan Buddhism in the Chinese Context in the Tang and Song Dynasties
The principle of developing in the Chinese context is the fine tradition and fundamental direction of China's religions.Although the five major religions in China have different origins,different histories of transmis-sion and development,and each has distinct characteristics,they have all experienced a long-term and active process of developing religions in the Chinese context.As an important part of China's religions,the process of developing Tibetan Buddhism in the Chinese context began as early as the Tang Dynasty when Buddhism was in-troduced to Tubo.After more than 1,000 years of development,it has formed its own characteristics and accumu-lated rich experience in developing religions in the Chinese context,which provides a lot of reference for us to deeply understand and better practice the the principle of developing Tibetan Buddhism in the Chinese context in the new era.This paper comprehensively reviews the historical process of developing Tibetan Buddhism in the Chinese context in the Tang and Song dynasties from a historical perspective,and points out that the process of developing Tibetan Buddhism in the Chinese context is the result of"cultural blending"in a sense,and also the result of the harmonious operation of multi-social relations.Today the promotion of developing Tibetan Buddhism in the Chinese context requires the participation of many parties and joint efforts.
