Contemporary Practice and Development Trend of the Development of Tibetan Buddhism in the He-huang Region of Gansu and Qinghai—Based on the Survey of Buddhist Temples in the Northeast Part of the Hehuang Region
Adhering to the principle that religions in China must be Chinese in orientation is an important con-tent of Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era,and the development of Ti-betan Buddhism in the Chinese context is an important part of adhering to the principle that religions in China must be Chinese in orientation.The northeast part of the Hehuang region of Gansu and Qinghai is located on the northeast edge of the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau,and it is a typical area of multicultural interaction in the eastern Qinghai-Xizang Plateau.It is at the forefront of developing religions in Chinese context during both his-torical and contemporary periods.This article is based on materials obtained through multiple field investiga-tions,drawing on existing research results,and it mainly studies the development of Tibetan Buddhism in the Chinese context in the northeast part of the Hehuang region from the perspective of contemporary practice,and discusses its development trend.This paper finds that,at present,Tibetan Buddhism in the Hehuang region continues to maintain a fine tradition of patriotism and love for the religion.At the same time,the number of religious believers is becoming increasingly diverse,Chinese and Tibetan religious rituals are blending,Chi-nese and Tibetan temple deities coexist,and religious architecture and art are becoming more localized.All of these reflect the characteristics of developing religions in the Chinese context in this region.In the historical period,Tibetan Buddhism in the Hehuang region has stepped out a path of developing religions in the Chinese context based on Chinese culture and integrated with regional characteristics.In the contemporary practice,it is also showing a development trend with the characteristics of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era.
