As a special form of local political power,the system of thousands and hundreds of households had existed for hundreds of years in the Tibetan-inhabited areas of Qinghai.During the Yongzheng reign of the Qing Dynasty,in order to strengthen the management of the"Forty Tribes of Yushu",the Qing government implemented the system of thousands and hundreds of households in the Yushu area.On this basis,combined with the actual circumstances,a relatively special system of hundred-household-level monk-officialswas set up according to the actual situation.In order to effectively manage the lay and religious masses within their jurisdiction,these hundred-household-levelmonk-officialsestablished a relatively complete local political and religious management system.The tribal chieftains were mainly occupied by Living Buddhas or Nang-so,who held both religious and political power and inheritance the positions through the system of the reincarnation of Living Buddhas.The residence of the hundred-household-levelofficials was a monastery,which not only served as the place to issue administrative orders to the tribal subjects,but also functioned as the venue for the religious activities of the tribal people.
