Research Progress on Variety Improvement and Nutrition Regulation of Local Pig Breeds
China was a large country in terms of pig farming and consumption of meat products,pork had occupied a leading position in our meat food consumption.In recent years,with the increasing demand for high-quality livestock products,ensuring the supply of high-quality pork had become top priority in the development of animal husbandry.Chinese local pigs had better resistance and higher meat quality than foreign pig breeds.Therefore,it was particularly important to protect and develop rich and diverse local pig breeds and strengthen the rational utilization of high-quality local pig breeds.However,at present,the phenomenon of"emphasizing introduc-tion and neglecting protection"had widespread in the process of protecting local pig breeds,resalted in the reduction of genetic rich-ness of local pig breeds,the excellant traits were insufficient utilization of the evaluation and insuffictent breeding in local pig breeds,and the low proportion of commercial pork produced by using local breed resources in the pig industry.Therefore,this paper mainly sum-marized the main measures for the improvement of local pig breeds and the main means of nutrition regulation in Chinese indigenous pigs,in order to provide references for the full development and utilization of local pig breed resources and promote the healthy development of pig industry in China.
