Study on the Effects of Altrenogest from Different Manufacturers on the Synchro-nized Oestrus and Reproductive Performance of Replacement Gilts
To investigate the effect of different manufacturers of altrenogest on the synchronized oestrus and reproductive performance of replacement gilts.By feeding three manufacturers(A,B and C)of altrenogest to replacement gilts for 14 or 18 days,the breeding de-livery indexes and reproductive performance indexes of the gilts were observed.The results showed that altrenogest treatment for 18 days was better than that for 14 days in manufacturer A.Compared with the control group,treatment with altrenogest from manufacturer A for 18 days significantly increased the oestrus rate,fertility rate,farrowing rate,total litter size and healthy litter size(P＜0.05)and sig-nificantly reduced the empty tire rate(P＜0.05);treatment with altrenogest from manufacturer B for 14 days significantly increased the oestrus rate of the reserve sows(P＜0.05),but its reproductive performance was not significantly different from that of the control group(P＞0.05);treatment with altrenogest from manufacturer C for 14 and 18 days had similar effects,both of which significantly increased the total litter size(P＜0.05);treatment with altrenogest from manufacturer C for 14 and 18 days had similar effects,both of which signifi-cantly increased the oestrus rate of sows(P＜0.05),and treatment for 18 days increased the total litter size and significantly increased the litter size(P＜0.05).This study provided data basis for the selection of allyl progesterone in pig farms in the later stage.
