Research on the Application of a Fermented Traditional Chinese Medicine to En-hance the Disease Resistance of Sows
To evaluate the effect of a fermented traditional Chinese medicine on the health condition and reproductive performance of sows with rough and lusterless coats, lethargy, heavy tear spots, and hemorrhagic dorsal pores(collectively referred to as subhealthy sows).Sixty sows in subhealthy condition were selected and divided into three groups(Group A,B and C)according to a one-way de-sign;Group A was used as a control without the use of fermented herbs,Group B was added with 3 kg/t of fermented herbs, and Group C was added with 6 kg/t of fermented herbs, and the herbs were used for 15 d at first application, then for 20 d at intervals, and then a-gain for 15 d.Blood was collected from sows on the 50th day of gestation(P50),on the day of farrowing(NO),and 25 d after farrowing(N25).5 mL of blood was collected at 50 days of gestation(P50),on the day of farrowing(NO),and 25 days after farrowing(N25),and 1~2 mL of blood was collected on the day of farrowing and the day of weaning at 25 days of age of piglets.Clinical observation showed that the use of the fermented herbal medicine improved the symptoms of tear spots and hemorrhagic spots of sows, and the glossiness of the coat was improved;sampling evaluation showed that the fermented herbal medicine could effectively increase the content of im-munoglobulin A(IgA),immunoglobulin G(IgG)and immunoglobulin M(IgM),and reduce the content of pro-inflammatory factors inter-leukin-6(IL-6)and interleukin-8(IL-8).interleukin-8(IL-8),and elevated the levels of superoxide dismutase(SOD)and glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px).The fermentation product could improve the antioxidant function of the body, enhance the immunity of the body, and help to improve the subhealth state of sows.
