Transumbilical single-port laparoscopic appendectomy uses the natural depression of the umbilical cord as the surgical approach, and the incision can be hidden here to achieve better cosmetic results. However, its disadvantages are mainly longer operation time and greater operation difficulty. The author's team independently developed a U-shaped memory alloy wire, which does not take up the laparoscopic channel, for the traction exposure in transumbilical single-port laparoscopic appendectomy.Compared with conventional single-port laparoscopic appendectomy, there is only one additional 1.6 mm traction hole. The postoperative cosmetic effect is comparable to that of conventional single-port laparoscopic appendectomy, but the operation time and difficulty are greatly reduced.
