Progress in the treatment and imaging of breast cancer using biomimetic nanoparticles
Breast cancer stands as the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women worldwide.Despite the wide adoption of various treatments, including radiotherapy, chemotherapy, surgery, enndocrine therapy, patients continue to grapple with off-target effects and severe systemic side effects. In recent years,nanoparticle-based drug delivery sys-tems have garnered significant attention in the field of novel breast cancer treatment due to their precise targeting ability and relatively low toxicity. This review provided a concise overview of the latest advancements in biomimetic nanoparti-cles for breast cancer treatment, particularly focusing on the"core-shell"structure which included different biological membranes and their internal core structures.Furthermore, the review elucidated the visualization method for biomime-tic nanoparticles and their application in the treatment of breast cancer.Studies had demonstrated that combination of biomiments nanoparticles with other treatments can effectively impede the growth of breast cancer cells and reduce me-tastasis.With the continuous evolution of nanotechnology in the research field, the biomimetic nanoparticle-based drug delivery system holds the potential to elevate breast cancer treatment to a higher level, offering the possibility of im-proved prognoses and reduced cancer recurrence.
