Differential gene expression and enrichment analysis in asymptomatic gliomas
Objective To find a new target for the comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of glio-mas,we analyzed the differentially expressed genes and related enrichment pathways of asymptomatic world health organization(WHO)grade 2 gliomas. Methods In total,27 patients aged(42.1±11.2)years old with WHO grade 2 glioma who received surgical treatment in Department of Neurosurgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from January 2018 to December 2019 were selected for this study. The clinical follow-up data and sequencing data were obtained and divided into asymptomatic group(9 cases)and symptomatic group(18 cases). The difference in gene expression between the two groups was analyzed by R language software. The Metascape website enrichment analysis was done to find the rele-vant enrichment pathways. Results In 27 WHO grade 2 glioma patients,127 differentially expressed genes were screened, including 52 up-regulated genes and 75 down-regulated genes, which were enriched in biological pathways such as acute inflammatory response, blood circulation, sulfur compound binding, and neuroactive ligand receptor interaction. Conclusion Asymptomatic WHO grade 2 gliomas exhibit spe-cific gene expression differences and related enrichment pathways.
