Most perioperative patients undergo routine oxygen therapy to prevent or treat potential hypoxemia.The World Health Organization guidelines for reducing surgical site infection have recommended the administration of high concentration of oxygen during the perioperative period.However,oxygen therapy and hyperoxemia also have ad-verse effects on the respiratory and cardiovascular systems.Some clinical studies have reported an association between high-dose perioperative oxygen therapy and worse clinical outcomes.This article reviews the relevant research and guide-lines on perioperative oxygen therapy,providing reference for more reasonable and safe perioperative oxygen therapy.
