Recent advances in Multilineage-differentiating stress-enduring cells and related applications
Stem cell-based therapies in regenerative medicine become a powerful tool today, both for recovery of various cells lost in human disease and for process of self-renewal.Multilineage-differentiating stress-enduring(Muse)cells are endogenous pluripotent stem cells that are stress resistant and considered superior to mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs).Muse cells are found in peripheral blood, bone marrow, and connective tissue of almost all organs, and can differentiate into all cells of the three germ layers, producing tissue-compatible cells.Due to the unique pluri-potency,stress tolerance,non-tumorigenicity,immune regulation and high homing rate of Muse cells,it is possible to break through the limitations of current cell-based therapies.Recently, some new progress has been made in preclinical research and some clinical trials have been gradually conducted.Muse cells are expected to become a new break-through in regenerative medicine therapy.
