The role of frizzled 7 of the canonical Wnt signaling pathway in gastric cancer
Frizzled 7(FZD7)is a member of the Frizzled receptors(FZDs)family.FZD7 is involved in trans-duction of multiple Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathways and binds to several different Wnt ligands,FZDs and co-recep-tors.FZD7 is highly conserved through evolution,and is expressed in diverse organisms,tissues and human disease contexts.It is reported that FZD7 plays a key role in regulating normal gastrointestinal tissue homeostasis and gastric cancer growth,metastasis,maintenance of tumor stem cells and chemotherapy resistance,and may be a potential ther-apeutic target.However,the exact mechanism of FZD7 in gastric cancer is still unclear.This article mainly reviews the current molecular mechanism of FZD7 in the occurrence and development of gastric cancer and the research progress of drugs targeting FZD7.
