Progress of ferroptosis in organelle-specific regulation
Ferroptosis is a form of iron-dependent programmed cell death characterized by iron accumulation and lipid peroxidation.Changes such as mitochondrial reactive oxygen species(ROS)overload, iron overload,tricar-boxylic acid cycle(TAC)and mitochondrial DNA(mtDNA)stress, endoplasmic reticulum(ER)stress, lysosomal au-tophagy,lysosomal iron and nitric oxide accumulation,Golgi stress, and ribosomal protein synthesis rate are present in ferroptotic cells. These pathological or stressful changes can also affect the occurrence and development of ferroptosis. This paper reviews the mechanism of organelle specific changes affecting ferroptosis in recent five years, and provides new ideas for the prevention and treatment of ferroptosis-mediated diseases.
