Taking the plane form of Tujia traditional resi-dences in western Hunan as the research object,based on the research of cultural anthropology,the paper uses the method of architectural typology to classify and analyze the plane form of residences in special human regions.Through field surveying and mapping,it systematically sorts out and analyzes the characteristics of three types of typical plane forms of Tujia traditional residences in western Hunan,finds out the fixed elements in the difference between the original form and the evolved form,excavates the deductive law of the plane form of residences,and finally probes into the in-ternal and external influencing factors in the evolution of the plane form,with a view to providing identification basis and theoretical guidance for the protection and development of Tujia traditional residences in western Hunan.
