Urban Spatial Evolution Based on Industrial Transformation and Upgrading:a Case Study of Shekou Industrial Zone
Under the background of Shenzhen's industrial transformation and upgrading, the spatial form of the city has gradually changed.Shenzhen's industry has been transformed and upgraded from the initial low-tech and low-cost manufacturing industry to high-efficiency high-tech industry and service. Its urban form has also changed from the spatial form of high density and low plot ratio dominated by manufacturing industrial parks to the spatial form of low density and high plot ratio of integrated development. The study of Shenzhen's industrial urban space evolution is valuable references for other regions'growth, helping understand urban form evolution patterns.Shenzhen Shekou Industrial Park has undergone a process of industrial transformation within 40 years since the establishment of the Special Economic Zone. This study examines Shekou Industrial Park using urban morphology theory and methods, focusing on overall and block-level urban form. The characteristics of urban development under the change of function, road network, green space and shoreline were analyzed, and the influence of location, volume and coverage on the shape of the block was explored. This study summarizes the spatial morphological evolution mode of cities and neighborhoods under industrial transformation and upgrading. The research results can be promoted and developed as a model for industrial transformation and upgrading.
