In view of the existing problems in elderly care facilities on the market,such as misaligned resource con-figuration and structure are,renovation and transformation difficulties,nursing mode and space misalignment,mis-match of space setting and the needs of the elderly.Based on the case study of Japanese nursing units,this paper re-views the relevant basic research of Japanese nursing units from the aspects of scale,function,layout,streamline and space design.Four representative cases of Chinese and Japanese nursing units were selected to make a detailed comparison from four aspects:unit scale and function con-figuration,plan layout and streamline organization,space level and nursing mode,age-appropriate design.On this basis,optimizing strategies are proposed from four as-pects,namely configuration,operation,nursing and space,to provide support and reference for spatial optimization and sustainable operation of elderly care facilities.
