A Study on Residential Suitability Design in Hot Areas by Modern Local Architect Wang Bingchen:a Case of Small Area Residential Practice in Wuhan
In the late 1950s,China's housing construction shifted from a comprehensive study of the Soviet Union to a slef exploration stage,and the emphasis on local perfor-mance increased significantly.Among them,architect Wang Bingchen conducted practical exploration of the housing in hot areas represented in Wuhan.By focusing on a group of Wuhan small-area houses designed by Wang Bingchen in the early 1960s,and analyzing the design characteris-tics suitable for the hot climate,the author tries to explore his thinking on energy conservation,regionalism and hu-manism under the principle of'economy,applicability and proper attention to beauty',reflecting his historical value in the development of urban housing in China,and providing experience and reference for the current residential design.
