Study on the Adaptability to Aging of Semi-Open Spaces in Existing Settlements in Shenzhen:the Case of Elevated Ground Floors in Residential Areas
Located in the Lingnan region of China, the semi-open spaces of the settlements in Shenzhen are places where elderly residents are more likely to conduct daily activities. However,at this stage, the design strategy of semi-open space in settlements combined with the actual needs of the elderly is not sufficient.Taking the elevated floors as an example, the problems of poorly equipped built-in facilities and insufficient ageing suitability are highlighted. In this paper, the relationship between the behavior of the elderly and the elevated ground floor and the usage preferences for the elevated ground floor are comprehensively analyzed by combining the elements of time, space and behavioral characteristics in the settlements of Shenzhen City as an example. On this basis,it proposes ageing-friendly design strategies from the level of time, space and behavioral characteristics of the elderly, aiming to provide new ideas for ageing-friendly renewal and renovation of the elevated ground floor in Shenzhen settlements.
