Research on Visual Salience of Urban Park Signs Based on Spatial Syntax:Case of Dalian Laodong Park
The current issue with urban park signage lies in the diminished navigational functionality due to weakened visual salience, leading to a loss of directional guidance. This results in a reduced efficiency in conveying informational messages. Therefore, studying the visual salience of urban park signage in spatial contexts holds practical significance for enhancing the recognizability and accessibility of urban parks. This paper, based on spatial syntax theory and image recognition technology, takes Dalian Laodong Park as an example to investigate the visual salience of urban park signage. The research reveals a significant correlation among the connectivity value, integration degree, and line-of-sight integration degree, reflecting the spatial accessibility of the park. However,no evident correlation has been observed between these factors and the percentage of signage indicating visual salience. This discrepancy can be attributed to the improper placement of signage.Based on these findings, spatial syntax theory and image recognition technology can be utilized to offer theoretical and methodological references for the human-centric design of urban park signage.
