Utopias on Grids:Extension of the Thought of Building Standardization to Future City
The thought of building standardization emerged because of realistic construction,but is also frequently appears in many fanciful cities.It sometimes reflects political control and sometimes embodies technocracy in urban space.That means it not long belongs to technique,but also belongs to notion.Some basic features of building standardization,such as unity,efficiency,accessibility and order,are incessantly utilized and pursued or occasionally avoided by Utopian architect,and they often show their existence in different ways.For the Utopian city under traditional standardized technical support,not only the simple linear form like square grid is universally used,but also it is the representative for linear construction logic in the industrial age;new standardization is moving towards a nonlinear future.
