Research on Design of Elderly Care Facilities of Hotel Transformation Type(Part 1)——Investigation and Analysis of the Current Situation and Problems of Economy Hotels in Shanghai
Based on the issue of China's aging population and the demand for updating existing building,drawing from the present scenario where there is a deficiency in urban elderly care facilities and the country's encouragement to repurpose existing building resources,This paper analyzes the feasibility of retrofitting existing hotel-type buildings into elderly care facilities.On this basis,taking existing economy hotels in the Shanghai area as an example,the paper employs on-site investigation,surveying,and problem analysis methods.It investigates the current conditions of site,architecture,functional layout,public spaces,living spaces,and accessibility.Using a classification discussion approach,it analyzes key issues in various spatial areas of the surveyed objects to outline the key directions requiring attention for age-friendly renovation.
