At present,affordable rental housing community is in the initial stage of rapid development in China,and according to experience of foreign countries,improving the sense of community of dwellers is crucial for ensuring long-term healthy operation of that kind of community,where the built environment of community is greatly influential on producing sense of community.On the basis of literature research,this paper reviews the basic theory and impact model for sense of community,combs the relationship between subjective perception variable and sense of community for the built environment based on new urbanism and social ecological framework,and it combs the influencing mode of two important objective built environments on sense of community,including walkability and public space attribute.The research is beneficial to deeper the understanding to the relationship between built environment and sense of community,and it can provide reference for the planning design and relevant policy formulating for affordable rental housing community based on national conditions.
