Nature,Supreme Goodness and Trueness:Three Dimensions of the Thought of Human Nature in Laozi
The thought of human nature in Laozi can be cognized from three dimensions:human nature originates from Dao,"human is nature"is deduced from"Dao is nature",which shows the theoretical background of Laozi's theory of human nature;"human nature is supreme goodness"originates from"De(德)",means that the realization of ideal value of human society relies on the full preservation of human nature, which highlights the connotation of human nature;the loss of man-made and the falsehood of humanity just prove that"human nature is trueness",and show a path of self-cultivation.These three interpretations are different aspects of Laozi's thinking on human nature and they are not contradictory or separated from each other. Therefore, only by combining the three interpretations together could we understand the whole connotation of Laozi's thought of human nature.
