On Inheritance and Transformation of"Jing Yan"of The Book of Songs in the Northern Song Dynasty under the Vision of Di Xue
Jing Yan(经筵)is a normative teaching activity established in Song Dynasty for emperors'education in classics and history.During the Northern Song Dynasty, the teaching of The Book of Songs(《诗经》)in Jing Yan was conducted under the guidance of Di Xue(帝学;means the theory and methodology relevant to emperors'reign).Due to the special and significant identities of both the"teacher"and"student",the characteristics reflected in the teaching of The Book of Songs in Jing Yan have influenced the study of The Book of Songs in Song Dynasty, either directly or indirectly. On the one hand, the teaching still remained within the interpretation framework of Shi Xu(《诗序》),the intentions of supporting contemporary politics and cultivating outstanding emperors have made it difficult to transcend traditional doctrines. On the other hand, the teaching embodied special significance and value from multiple dimensions,as it had a profound impact on the study of The Book of Songs in Song Dynasty in terms of textual form and logical framework.
