On the Novelization Tendency and Paradigmatic Significance of Geographical Records in the Six Dynasties
Geographical records(diji;地记)in Six Dynasties period had a close relationship with zhiguai(志怪;records on ghosts and spirits)novels.The mutual influence between these two kinds of literature mainly embodied on the quotation,adaptation,imitation,multiplication of the original texts or plots.In motifs such as"wangfu shi(望夫石)","chenhu(沉湖)"and"long mu(龙母)",we could find the mutual integration between geographical records and zhiguai(志怪)novels.By a fully display on the evolution process of these motifs,the character of"novelization tendency"of geographical records in the Six Dynasties period has been presented clearly,and this tendency has a paradigmatic significance on later geographical records.
