The Identification of the Symbols Related to Bashu Sacred Tree——Taking the Yucong Sacred Tree Pattern Unearthed from Sanxingdui No.3 Pit as the Main Clue
Through the analysis of the Sanxingdui Yucong Sacred Tree pattern and the Bronze Sacred Tree,it could be seen that the elements which represent the Sacred Tree not only include trees with different forms, but also the body, fruits, bases, altars, etc. There are patterns associated with the sacred tree, such as the sun, birds, cicadas, loongs, tigers, snakes, etc. The expression of the tree image in Bashu symbols could be divided into two types:figurative image and abstract image. The wang(王)-shaped sacred tree cast on the seal and the hand-heart-shaped sacred tree cast on the weapons might be two different expressions of thoughts. The identification of the sacred tree images show that most of the images in Bashu symbols came from Sanxingdui culture, and the value system of the images is derived from the same origin as Sanxingdui culture and Twelve Bridges culture.
