Population Mobility and Cultural Fusion in Southwest Anhui during the Pre-Qin Period
During the Neolithic period, the whole changing process of Xuejiagang culture in the southwestern Anhui region has always kept the characteristic of diversification.Archaeological relics of the culture showed a chronological and sequential relationship, which could be generally described as a group of people with the same origin have shared a cultural system in a certain district. In the process of development, the people contacted with and influenced by each other, kept a"kinship"relation in culture.During Xia and Shang dynasties, the emergence of the cultural factors of the Central Plains(especially the cultural factors of the Shang Dynasty)in Xuejiagang"was probably spread downstream through the middle reaches of the Yangtze River".During Xia and Shang period, the Central Plains bronze civilization didn't generate any profound influence in the cultural landscape around Qianshan.Groups mentioned in legends, such as Qunshu and Huaiyi, who worshiped Gao Tao as their first ancestor, has constantly reproduced and varied. There was a long period mutual interaction of population and culture between these groups and Dongyi, who lived in Shandong.Wars between the Western Zhou Dynasty and the Xuhuai tribes accelerated the civilization process of Jianghuai area.During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, the Jianghuai area presented a complex and diverse cultural landscape for a long time.To a certain extent, the looseness of the ethnic groups and the diversity of culture have constrained the civilization development and social progress in the area.
