According to the newly discovered epitaph of Yan Gongkuang(《嚴公貺墓誌》)written by Liu Gongquan,combined with other related newly-unearthed cultural relics and handed-down documents of Liu,and on the basis of the two excavation reports from the archaeological team,this paper illustrates the left out part with neglect of content mainly discussed in the above two reports.The paper focuses on the characteristics of the work composed and written by Liu Gongquan,and makes a literary investigation on epitaphs of Liu.Meanwhile it discusses the engraved works of Liu and his communication with Shao Jianhe(engraver of Liu's work),and surveys Liu's calligraphy from the perspective of Liu's family culture.The paper also makes fair comment on the widely spread view of"flattering the Eunuch"in Liu's works.
