Resistance of Culex fatigans to three pyrethroid insecticides in Jiangxi Province
Objective To investigate the resistance of Culex fatigans to three pyrethroid insecticides in different regions of Jiangxi Province. Methods Larva soaking method recommended by WHO was used in this bioassay. Results Cx.fatigans were sensitive to beta-cypermethrin and tetramethrin in Fuzhou city, and the LC50 were 0.002 226 and 0.009 088 mg/L,the resistance ratioes (RR) were 1.59 and 1.44.The resistance of Cx.fatigans to tetramethrin in Jiujiang city was at medium level with the RR 11.55.Cx.fatigans collected from three areas held low resistance to other pyrethroid insecticides with the RR between 2.63 to 9.81.Conclusion Cx.fatigans develops different resistance to the insecticides, and Cx.fatigans collected from Jiujiang is most resistant. In order to delay resistance evolution, the monitoring of insecticide resistance in such areas should be strengthened.
